Domestic Green Deal Advisor (New Entrants-GDA) Training

This new combined course will enable successful candidates to become fully qualified Green Deal Advisor as well as Domestic Energy Assessor’s also enabling you to carry out Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).

The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and all course material, along with refreshments throughout the day. No hidden costs or additional charges guaranteed.

Day 1

  • Welcome & Introduction
  • Identifying Construction Types & Age of Properties
  • Determining levels of insulation
  • Using RdSAP Software
  • Heating & Lighting
  • Renewable Energy Sources

Day 2

  • The Surveying Process
  • Site Notes
  • Floor Plans
  • Importance of Photographs
  • Data input exercise in the RdSAP software
  • Live Site Visit
  • Measuring Conventions
  • Hands-on experience with the software
  • EPC Production

Day 3

  • Live Site Visit
  • EPC Calculations
  • Data input into the RdSAP Software
  • Production of an EPC
  • Portfolio Guidance Session
  • Tutorial on our City & Guilds endorsed E-portfolio
  • Q&A Session

Day 4

  • Provide information to customers on the principles, financing and operation of the Green Deal
  • How to provide high quality, independent and impartial advice to customers
  • Be able to provide customers with information on Green Deal to meet their needs
  • Understand the process of conducting an occupancy assessment
  • Understand the methods of reducing energy consumption and achieving affordable warmth
  • Understand written records required for Inspection findings
  • How to conduct an occupancy assessment

Day 5

  • The process of preparing, lodging and issuing domestic Green Deal Advice Reports
  • How to prepare domestic Green Deal Advice Reports
  • Be able to explain the components of the Green Deal Advice report and their implications to the domestic customer
  • Prepare and present a Green Deal Advice report in a professional and impartial manner
  • Portfolio Guidance
  • Exam preparation
  • Short online multiple choice test

Do I have to produce a portfolio?
All learners produce a portfolio of evidence that they have acquired the required knowledge and have carried out 5 properties inspections to the DEA standard. Also you will need to complete 3 case studies for your GDA portfolio. The external verifier from City & Guilds checks this before they will issue certificates.

No previous qualifications or experience is required; however you must have basic computer skills as all assessors must input data into a software program in order to produce the energy performance certificate.
