DESCRIPTION:**On Line Course – 3 Hours duration** \nAim and Target Group: \nThis VIRTUAL 3 hour on line session  gives participants working in a Health and Social Care setting an understanding or ‘refresher’ of how the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards applies to their day-to-day work settings. \nLearning outcomes: \nBy the end of this session participants should: \n\nUnderstand the introduction of Mental Capacity Act and the statutory principles\nExplore what the Act means by “capacity”\, the assessment process\nClearly understanding the link between Mental Capacity Act 2005 links to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Human Rights\nUnderstand the importance of record keeping to support all best interest decisions\nUnderstand what it means in practice for an individual to be deprived of their liberty.\nDiscuss the “Cheshire West” Supreme Court decisions that have changed our understanding of what constitutes a “deprivation of liberty”\nUnderstand the difference between a deprivation of liberty in various different settings\nKnow how a Deprivation of Liberty is authorised\nFrom DoLS to Liberty Protection Safeguards – lets get ready.\n\nThere will be an opportunity for discussion and questions during the session. \nWhat do I need to access this course? \nFor this course you will need a laptop\, tablet or mobile phone and a good internet connection and an email address for contact. \nHow do I book on this course? \nYou can book on line using the link or call us on 01245 267071 \nTerms  \nAll course fees must be paid in full prior to attending the on line session.  A link to join the course will be issued once payment has been received. \n  \nAn Electronic Certificate of virtual attendance will be issued
