DESCRIPTION:What is it?\nThis 2 day accredited course will help you recognise and understand Mental Health conditions and how to recognise it in colleagues\, giving you the confidence to support colleagues in the workplace who are in distress. \nThis course is for people who would like to become a Mental Health First Aider in their workplace. \nWhat does this course cover?\nThis course covers the following topics: \n\nWhat is Mental Health First Aid?\nHow does it impact?\nMental Health Stigma and Discrimination?\nMental Health Disorders covered will vary:\n\nAnxiety & Depression – Overview of Conditions e.g Bipolar\, Symptoms\, Risk Factors and Depression in Workplace\nSuicide – Dealing with crisis\nDrugs and Alcohol – Symptoms and in the workplace\nDisorders – Personality\, Eating\, Self Harm\nPhychosis – What is Psychosis\, Risk Factors\, Treatment and covering an overview of conditions e.g Schizophrenia\n\n\nCrisis First Aid for acute conditions\, how to assess situations and support.\nAction Planning for using MHFA in workplace\n\nAfter undertaking this programme\, Mental Health First Aiders will have: \n\nAn indepth understanding of Mental Health and the factors that can affect well-being\nPractical skills to spot the triggers and signs of Mental Health issues\nConfidence to step in\, reassure and support a person in distress\nEnhance interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening\nKnowledge to help someone to recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that is self-help resources through their employer\, the NHS or both\nA nationally recognised qualification issued by Mental Health England\n\nPlease  Note:  This course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing\, including suicide and self-harm.
